Isang Salamat Lang, Busog Na Ako...

"Thank You.."
Very simple yet very powerful and heartwarming words..
I'm not very hard to please.

Super high kse I feel so blessed to have been surrounded with people who know how to say thank you and appreciate the things u did for them.

I didn't know that my simple gestures could already brighten up someone's day. Furthermore, I didn't realize that my simple desire of spending a day with someone so dear to me could already put her in great joy.

Narealize ko, totoo pala yung qoute na "smile and often and never frown for you'll never know when you're brightening up someone's day just because of your smile..."

When i started this blog, my sole intention was only to have an outlet for my bubbles..madaldal ako pero hindi ako transparent sa emotions ko. This space served as my piece of sanctuary. naisip ko pa nun, at least kung mamamatay man ako ng wala sa oras, merong matitirang account ang mga maiiwan ko para knows nila kung ano-ano ba ang mga dilemmas ko at mga drama ko sa life. Pero never had i imagined that this piece of sanctuary could also be an inspiration to other people...

Honestly, i am overflowing with joy and gladness whenever people would tell me that they love reading my blogs because they could feel every inch of my emotions in every post i make.

The inspiring and boosting words from those people made me feel like I'm really bound to be a writer and touch people's lives. Thank you so much to all of you.
I feel so blessed to have all of you.

Moreover, when i made a video for my friends who are very much "in-love," i didn't know that it could really touch them so hard, their hearts could melt...Honestly, natuwa lang tlaga ako sa pictures nila kse everytime i visit their pages, i feel like butterflies are flying all over and flowers of love are very much everywhere. Nonetheless, when they watched the video, all of them were so touched, they thanked me wholeheartedly.

When my better half died, i vowed to him that I'll try my best to spread the word of TRUE LOVE to all my friends and acquaintances. Sabi ko pa nun, God blessed me with a very special kind of love kaya i believe that it's my duty to let other people know the true wonders of TRUE LOVE..And perhaps, doing that video is just one of my ways of fulfilling that promise..I didn't know that that would mean so much to them..Nevertheless, thank you so much for appreciating. Your wonderful words of appreciation are enough to make me feel happy.

See, a simple "thank you" is enough to brighten up someone's life. Make it a habit to say thank you to every simple gesture done for you. Believe me, it could make a very big difference...Winks!

An Apple for a Barista

"How would you like your coffee, brewed or grounded?

How i would love to ask that question to my future coffee addict customers. Haplessly, i might not be able to pull through with my "barista" fancy since i had to chose between my sole and serious personal legend than my as-of-the-moment whims.

I'm already on my third day of training as barista in Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, and yes, I had lots of really wonderful discoveries about coffee, teas, and how the coffee world works. And perhaps, knowing how Coffee Bean gets its coffee beans and tea leaves, how they carefully prepare their products--from harvesting, processing, roasting, and all--I realized that I would love to be a "tambay" of CBTL more than Starbucks.

CBTL is such a great company. I enjoyed every day of my training sessions--not only because I got to drink free coffee and tea and have my slice of free pastries--but because I'd learned a lot about coffees and teas. Believe me, it's a lot more delightful to drink ur cup of coffee or tea if u know where they come from and how they are being prepared. Truly, the world of coffee and tea is a lot more amazing than you thought it to be.

Haplessly, i believe my barista dream is already coming to an end--that is when the HR dept. will hand me the contract tomorrow. Sigh. I heard from my co-team members that CBTL has a contract bond (well, just like any other coffee shops). I found out that if we won't be able to finish the 6 months contract, we will be forced to pay 5ok. A big, hearty sigh.

Sad noh? Just when i'm already enjoying my coffee and tea experiences tsaka naman dumating yung revelation na yon. Hay!
I would love to accept the offer even if it has a bond. Sadly, I have my own priorities in life that I have to give more attention to.

nonetheless, i still take pride knowing that once in my life, I became part of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. adik na kung adik. I don't give a damn if my friends would laugh at me and say nagtrip na naman ako. Being a barista may be way out of my league, but at least, i cud prove to the people who are underrating me that i can do more than what they thought me to be.

One thing, I'm also proud that of all the coffee shops in the Phils., God chose Coffee Bean for me. I know I am (or was) part of the best coffee shop in the world--quality and service combined. Believe me, it's true. I've only been to CBTL for like three times only since i became a coffee fanatic and prior to my being hired there, but now that I discovered a lot of great things about the company, I know that Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf deserves to be given much attention by coffee and tea drinkers.

Why am I bursting these bubbles? Wala lang, just so you know Coffee Bean's the best! And nope, i'm not their PR officer

Coffee and Tea Trivia

*Mocha is not really a flavor. It is a port in Africa. The reason why coffee maestros named some coffee beans as Mocha is because some of the coffee beans were harvested from Mocha, Africa.
*as per my observation, and tea leaves ng Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf pag inilublob mu sa hot water, nag-oopen ung leaves kse CBTL gets only the finest and the youngest two leaves in a bud. The rest of the bush, pinaghahatian na ng ibang coffee companies.
*The rarest type of coffee in the world are the Jamaican Blue Mountain and Kona or the so-called Premium Select coffees. In the coffee market, Japan ang may pinakamalaking share ng coffees na 'to. I think they're getting almost 80% of the share..the remaining 20%, pinaghahatian na ng lahat ng coffee brands in the word. That's why UCC coffee is very expensive kse un ung ginagamit nilang coffee beans..
*There's no such thing as white or red tea. The only three types of teas are the green tea, oolong tea, and black tea.
*oolong tea is called the "champagne of all teas"
^^Oh di ba, nakikinig tlaga ako noh...^^

Women Taking a Leap

"The great question that has never been answered, and which I have not yet been able to answer, despite my thirty years of research into the feminine soul, is "What does a woman want?"
--Sigmund Freud

“I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is;
I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat or a prostitute.”
-- Rebecca West

"We have to be careful in this era of radical feminism, not to emphasize an equality of the sexes that leads women to imitate men to prove their equality. To be equal does not mean you have to be the same.”
--Eva Burrows
"Does being a feminist mean that I believe that I'm as good as any man? Yes.”

--Yasmine Bleeth

"A feminist does not believe that she is merely a girl who aims to be a princess in men's eyes; she is someone deeper and more sensible than that. For her, image goes behind her advocacy to live with equality. I'm trying to be one."

--Jayne Yun

"The feminist movement has helped open minds and kitchens to the notion that men can be at home on the range.”

--Rene Veaux

“Feminism is an entire world view or gestalt, not just a laundry list of women's issues”

--Charlotte Bunch

"When an actress takes off her clothes onscreen but a nursing mother is told to leave, what message do we send about the roles of women? In some ways we're as committed to the old madonna--whore dichotomy as ever. And the madonna stays home, feeding the baby behind the blinds, a vestige of those days when for a lady to venture out was a flagrant act of public exposure.”

I Never Knew Love

I open my eyes, only to see
Just how sad this world could be
That I often cry alone
oohhh

I look at the sky, longing to see
There's a chance out there for me
For my heart to be set free

Refrain:

My friends had say that it's ok
When rainbow's fade in clouds of gray
But in my heart I know someday
True happiness will come my way

Chorus:
I never knew love till I found you
It's magic in your smile
Never knew love till I saw you lookin' in my eyes
And suddenly our sadness disappears
True love has fin'lly shown its smilin' eyes on me

I'm searching the skies hopin' to see
If there's someone out there for me
Who will set my poor heart free

(Repeat Refrain then Chorus)

No one believes that love was just a fairytale
But each time you hold me
Those fairytales come true

on you

(Repeat Chorus)

The Truth About Pure Fruit Juices vs. Fruit Beverages

(Since our catchphrase made mention of the seeming-to-be subject on "juices"—although meant figuratively—we thought of giving you something for our inner-wellness, which should be a concern of everyone. Our treat for our dear readers.)

Kids love the taste of pure fruit juice, and parents love it because it’s a healthy source of nutrients.

When choosing healthy pure juice for your children, it’s important to note what kind of juice you are serving and how much you are offering. Here’s what families should know about fruit juice versus other fruit-flavored beverages:

CHOOSE THE RIGHT FRUIT JUICE

All juices are not created equal – some are nutritional gems while others are sugar water. Consider these tips as you make juice part of your child’s diet.

Be label savvy. Buy juice labeled “100 percent fruit juice."

Beware of words like “drink,” “punch,” “cocktail,” “beverage,” and “ade.” These are not 100 percent juice – they’re junk fruit beverages.

Many “junk fruit beverages” are nutrient-void beverages, commonly masked as fruit “juice,” “drinks,” or “cocktails.” Most contain 10 percent or less of pure fruit juice, and lots of water, sugar, and additives. Junk fruit beverages have little or no nutritional value.

Avoid junk fruit beverages that are disguised as juice “blends” that contain small amounts of various fruits like grape, apple , and pear. Ounce for ounce, these juices don’t have the natural levels of vital nutrients that 100 percent pure juices like orange juice provide. Plus, they usually contain added sugars.

Examine the ingredients. Avoid fruit-flavored beverages that have added fructose corn syrup. They shape a child’s taste toward sweet cravings.

Look at the juice. Generally, the cloudier the juice, the more nutritious it is. If you can see through it, you’re buying mostly water. Picture a tall glass of 100 percent pure orange juice with pulp. There should be some sediment at the bottom, which is a reminder of the juice’s origins.

Go with citrus juices. Orange juice is a morning favorite and one of the most nutritious beverages available. An excellent source of vitamin C and potassium, orange juice also is a good source of folate and thiamin. Compared to other juices, orange juice is higher in protein, vitamin A, B-vitamins, vitamin C (it contains more than 10 times as much vitamin C as apple juice), calcium, iron, and potassium, making it a heavyweight among fruit juices. Drinking an 8-ounce glass counts as one of your five necessary fruit and vegetable servings for the day.

Check if it’s pasteurized. Commercial juices now are required to say if it’s pasteurized on the label. The new law is a result of non-pasteurized juice-borne bacterial illnesses that are especially harmful to people with weakened immune systems (such as children, pregnant women or the elderly). No need to worry, though. A new high-pressure pasteurization method increases the shelf life and significantly reduces the bacteria count. And, it reportedly does not affect the flavor or vitamin and mineral content of the juice. The key is to make sure the label on your juice says it’s pasteurized.

Consider Juice Variety

Another beneficial juice in addition to orange juice is nectar juice. Nectar usually has more calories, but more nutrients are preserved during processing nectar than other juices. Apricot nectar is especially healthy, containing a lot of beta-carotene, almost a gram of protein per 8-ounce glass, and it’s higher than most juices in vitamin A, vitamin B-6 and iron. Other nutritious nectars come from the “P” fruits – peaches, pears and prunes.

HOW MUCH YOU OFFER COUNTS

Juice can be a tasty alternative to water, but consuming too much juice may take the place of other nutritious foods the child would normally eat. The following chart explains how much juice is appropriate for a child up to 12 years of age:

Age
Amount

6 – 12 months
4 ounces per day

1 – 4 years
6 ounces per day

4 – 12 years
8 ounces per day

JUICE CONSUMPTION 101

Offer 100-percent juice at mealtimes or as snacks as an alternative to soda or junk juices. Serve orange juice at breakfast, and pack a carton in your child’s lunch box for lunch or as a daytime snack.

If a child usually consumes more than the daily-recommended amount of juice, dilute the juice with water. The water has the sweet taste of juice while allowing the appropriate amount of juice intake throughout the day.

If a child asks for carbonated soda, add seltzer to a glass of 100 percent pure orange juice to add ‘a bubbly sensation’.

Don’t let toddlers walk around or fall asleep with a baby bottle filled with juice. It can cause tooth decay. The juice bathes the teeth, which may contribute to bacterial growth, plaque and eventual decay (a condition called the “juice bottle syndrome”).

VITAMIN C TIPS

Orange and grapefruit juices contain more natural vitamin C than any other fruit juice. They’re great juices for your children – and for you.

The vitamin C content of canned juices may deteriorate upon exposure to air, so be sure to refrigerate and tightly seal opened containers.

Freshly squeezed juice contains more vitamin C than made-from-concentrate canned or frozen juices.

Adding ascorbic acid, or vitamin C, to juice allows manufacturers to claim that the drink will give your child “100 percent vitamin C.” This health claim, however, can mask its sugary content and hides the fact that other essential nutrients are not included.

AVOIDING TUMMY-ACHES

Juices with a high fructose-to-glucose ratio and that contain sorbitol can aggravate the intestines, especially those already sensitive by irritation or infection.

Reccommended Juices

Citrus juices and some other juices (strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and white grape juice) do not contain sorbitol and are recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Committee on Nutrition for use during intestinal illnesses.

Fructose-to-Glucose Ratio:A high fructose-to-glucose ratio may cause diarrhea or abdominal pain because the excess fructose ferments in the large intestine. Orange juice is a recommended juice because it contains equal amounts of glucose and fructose and no sorbitol.

Infants and Children: Because their immature intestines allow more unabsorbed sugar to reach the colon where it ferments, infants and children are particularly prone to gas and diarrhea from excessive juice.

FAVORITE 100% PURE FRUIT JUICE FACTS

Orange – The juice with the highest amount of vitamin C and potassium and a good source of folate and thiamin. It also contains cancer-fighting phytochemicals.

Grapefruit – The juice with the second highest amount of vitamin C.

Apricot Nectar – This juice is high in vitamin A and contains a small amount of iron and zinc.

Prune – The juice highest in iron, zinc, fiber and niacin.

White Grape – A juice high in vitamin C, and the best juice for healing the intestines.

Apple – This juice has no nutritional advantage over other juices, but is good for flavoring water because it dilutes well.

Musings 1: "Reading" between the lines

It's not enough that you grasp the meaning of the words of the person you're talking to; it's not sufficient that you hear every syllables that comes out of someone's mouth.

Various lines may connote, rather than denote, several meanings.

Say, for instance, the greeting 'Hello' can be avered in many ways. It can be with delight (seeing a smile on the face of the speaker) or told with displeasure (seeing the sarcasm in the tone of the speaker, plus the incongruity of the speaker's facial expression to the denotation of the word's meaning).

It's so hard to distinguish someone's intention from one's action. You see, actions can be regulated, while intentions are kept, deep within.

So, how do you know if the person is being true? How do you know if his/her intentions towards you are genuine?

That's a hard inquiry to answer. Do you know the Tagalog phrase 'walang masamang tinapay'?

When someone gets ill-mannered (and the direction of his bad deed is coursing towards you), calm yourself. Think of the possible reasons why this person attacks you. Where is he coming from?Only then can you say that you've sought of ways to understand the offending party. But if it turns out that that person seems to be acting out of proportion, then it shouldn't bother you--not even a bit.

What is Love, What is Marriage?

One Day Socrates was walking along a Wheat Field when one of his disciples approached him. "Socrates, Sir!", the disciple called out. "Sir, what is Love?"

Socrates mused on this question for a moment and then replied," Son, walk along this wheat field, with the following one condition;you can only walk in one direction. Then bring back to me the tallest wheat stalk!"

The disciple was confused, he just could not understand where this task was related to his question. But still he obediently went on to undertake the task. Towards evening, a very tired and disoriented disciple came back to Socrates. Socrates on seeing him all weary and empty handed, queried,"Son what happened?"

To this the disciple replied,"Sir, As I walked along the field, each time I saw a stalk tall enough, I
ran forward to get it! When I reached there, I found a stalk taller than it, beyond it. But when I reached there, I realized the stalk prior to it was taller. But since I could not go back I kept moving forward until I reached the end and realized I failed in my task!"

Socrates smiled and reassured the disciple,"Son it's no failure. It was a task and the task was just to give you a feel of what love is. It's a perception of feelings and as you search for the perfect love, you never find it!"

The disciple was all confused, but it did make sense to him that love is something very difficult to find.

This same disciple, after some time, came to Socrates and asked,"Sir, What is marriage?".

Socrates at that time was walking besides a forest and so laughing loud said, "Son, walk into the forest and bring me back the tallest tree you'll find!

One condition is you cannot walk back once you have passed it."

The disciple ran into the forest. After about a couple of hours, Socrates heard chopping sounds and lot of noise. Soon he had the disciple coming towards him with a big tree and a big smile on his face. Socrates asked, "Son you found the tree so fast? Is that really the tallest tree in the forest?"

The Disciple all beaming with a big smile replied,"Sir I remembered the task you gave me when I asked about love and I realized that I should not keep presuming the tallest tree will be in the deepest region of the forest. So when I came to the first tree I felt was taller than most trees around, I cut it down and brought it to you!"

Socrates laughed a hearty laugh and said,"Son, now you must have realized what marriage is all about!".

The Disciple stood silent cause now he was confused. What was the master saying? How can cutting a tree be related to marriage? The wheat stalk part I understood, love is very difficult to find. But a tree and marriage?

Seeing the shadow on his Disciple's face, Socrates decided to clarify,"Son,walking through the wheat field and forest without being able to come back is akin to your life. It keeps moving forward! You can never come back and undo things. Now when we speak of love, it is a emotion a feeling which we create in our minds. So we always try to find that perfect person. So each time we find a good person, we overlook them saying the person does not have everything we want! there is still time, we will keep searching till everything is perfect. Sometimes, like the case of wheat field, it's a illusion and we will never find it and when we reach the end rue the fact!

Now in the case of the forest, you realized what went wrong at the wheat field and you chose to cut the tree you felt tallest. This is akin to marriage, you realize that marriage is a sacrament and not a feeling. So you choose to adjust to whatever it has to offer and find happiness from it!"

The realization dawned on the disciple.

Our lives are same; we love many things; aspire for many things. But what we are married into, we should realize, is what we have chosen or destiny chose for us, hence we should do our best to make it working rather than be sad about it !

TGS07: Sony's PS3 Controllers Now with Rumble

One of the biggest revelations of this year's Tokyo Game Show is the official confirmation that Sony's Sixaxis controller will now have a supossedly "last-gen" feature, rumble (or vibrate or force feedback, whatever you may call it).

Kaz Hirai confirmed the existence of this added feature in his keynote this morning. He also provided a list of future games that will support this addiction. He also confirmed that previously released games will be able to use this feature through software updates. So this means battling a massive army in Heavenly Sword, racing on muddy roads in Motorstorm, and shooting pesky aliens in Resistance will now give you a feeling of "being there" through your hands.

The above sort-of study was e-mailed on my various e-mail accounts and even spread through friendster.com. There seem to be no difference with the listing--if my memory serves me right.

What I have to say?

Having been in the academic world, topics on the academe is such a relevant matter to discuss. Since Filipinos became acquianted with the thought that success is relatively acquired by those who attained quality education, it is a big consideration on which school to choose.

A lot of "word-wars" circulate, time and again. And until now, debates like who is better: Ateneo (once became a subject of satire among my college collegues; one of our transferee blockmates would pronounce it "A-re-ne-o") or La Salle ( "Al Salle" as how my boss would say, remember the cheering Boo-boos? ) never fail to be brought up.

What I would not dare say? (But I would, anyway.)

Number 1 pa rin ang peyups. Wala. Ganun talaga!

Bagay talaga 'yung bagong quote ng UP t-shirt, which says:

"U.P. Ako.

Ikaw?"

In Defense of Other Universities:

Manila. Laging 100 percent ang passing percentage.

Kung Engineering naman, Mapua is a good choice, too.

Sa I.T., AMA is a good choice. (ehem)

(ehem, to the 2nd power)

Kill Your Baby

Quote of the Week: Kill Your Baby.

What? You already have a baby and you're gonna kill it? What kind of human are you? Are you crazy? Are you insane? Are you out of your mind? Are you....evil?

No, no no! It's not what you think. A baby is just a "baby". A "baby" is a labor of love. A "baby" is something you worked hard on, put so much time on, some sort of a masterpiece.

If it's some of value to you, why do you have to kill it?

It's because, sometimes, you have to let go of something to get or come up with something better. Sometimes, you have to let go of the past to move on. So let it go.

Learned something? Ask yourself.

Anyway, who thought of that quote? Ask yourself.

Later Alligator

This is not a poison text.

Later, alligator, 'coz I am not a commentator. Well, so well, get out of your shell. Spin, cool wind, there's a fire within.

Deal, be real, let's ride that big ferris wheel. Be happy, cute puppy, disks are no more floppy. Let's post, I'm the host, I suppose. Feel love, free a dove, there's a very nice view above.

Be simple, I have a cute dimple, good thing there's no pimple. Please watch Marimar, my home's too far, I can't win a war.

Let's be cool, stay in school, you know I'm not a fool. Let me see your ring, can I give you a ring, your name to my ears give a ring.

See a pattern? Well, I cannot.

Be Bench Model Search Winners

Regine Angeles and Carlo Guevara went their respective homes with huge smiles in their faces and tears in their eyes. Why? Because the judges and viewers of Be Bench model search decided that they deserve to be the winners.

Here's what they have to say.

Regine:

I feel honored, I feel grateful.

Carlo:
See? Dreams come true!
